Create Beats
So you want to be able to Create Beats? The barrier to entry for creating beats and tracks–be it for the clubs, for presentations, or just for yourself–has always been pretty high. As much as most of us would love to be able to do it, the learning curve is just too steep for people who don’t have the time to devote to taking lessons or reading books on music theory.
Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. For years people have tried to make mixing and sequencing software that could be sold commercially to individuals, but the problem has always been striking a balance between a feature-rich and capable music suite, and a simple piece of software that normal people can understand and work with intuitively.
I’ve used different programs over the years to create my own beats, with some success, but the first piece of software to really excite me has been Dr. Drum. It’s a new program which is aimed at novice users, but it doesn’t sacrifice quality or feature-richness to make itself accessible.
How is that even possible? Well, the problem with most software is that the people who design it are the people who write the code. These guys are super smart and everything, but they don’t necessarily have the strongest design sense about them.
Dr. Drum is different. It has a sleek, streamlined, and sexy interface, which really inspires creativity. It just feels cool to work with.
Even more importantly, the way the features are laid out makes sense intuitively. It doesn’t fill your screen with things you don’t need right now–though you can access anything you want at any time. Whatever you are working on at the moment is the focus, and you will be presented with easy to understand tools that make perfect sense.
Dr. Drum is an exceptional piece of software, and a paradigm shift for makers of music the world over. It really is true that this is a program which enables just about anybody to create high quality, awesome beats, and it can’t come more highly recommended.
